Abstract:
Disclosed are a width control device of a multi-stand rolling mill and a method for controlling a width thereof. The width control device of the multi-stand rolling mill and the method for controlling the width thereof, according to one embodiment of the present invention, comprise: a measurement unit for measuring at least one among an actual measurement width value, an actual measurement temperature value and an actual measurement stress value of a steel plate when an edger mill and a plurality of roughing mills in the multi-stand rolling mill operate; and a control unit for controlling the edger mill so as to allow the edger mill to perform width rolling by using an edger target width value, for each width rolling speed of the edger mill, set according to the actual measurement width value, and for controlling the plurality of roughing mills so as to allow the plurality of roughing mills to adjust tension applied to the steel plate by using a target tension value calculated so as to compensate a compensatory stress value according to at least one among the actual measurement width value, the actual measurement temperature value and the actual measurement stress value.
