Abstract:
A multi- section wig apparatus is provided and includes a first hair section, a second hair section, a third hair section, and a fourth hair section, each configured to have artificial hair coupled to a surface thereof. The multi-section wig apparatus includes lace mesh parting areas disposed between the first hair section, the second hair section, the third hair section, and the fourth hair section. The lace mesh parting areas allow the user to style the artificial hair in multiple different styles according to their preference.

CLAIMS

1. A multi- section wig apparatus, comprising: a first hair section configured to have artificial hair coupled to a surface thereof and corresponding to a front region of a user's head when worn; a second hair section configured to have artificial hair coupled to a surface thereof and corresponding to the front region of the user's head when worn; a third hair section configured to have artificial hair coupled to a surface thereof and corresponding to a rear region of the user's head when worn; a fourth hair section configured to have artificial hair coupled to a surface thereof and corresponding to the rear region of the user's head when worn; a first lace mesh parting area disposed between the first hair section and the second hair section; a second lace mesh parting area disposed between the first hair section and the third hair section; a third lace mesh parting area disposed between the second hair section and the fourth hair section; and a fourth lace mesh parting area disposed between the third hair section and the fourth hair section.

2. The multi-section wig apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the length of the first lace mesh parting area is disposed in a longitudinal orientation with respect to the user's head, and wherein the length of the fourth lace mesh parting area is disposed in a

longitudinal orientation with respect to the user's head.

The multi-section wig apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the length of the second lace mesh parting area is disposed in a transverse orientation with respect to the user's head, and wherein the length of the third lace mesh parting area is disposed in a transverse orientation with respect to the user's head.

4. The multi-section wig apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the first lace mesh parting area, the second lace mesh parting area, the third lace mesh parting area and fourth lace mesh parting area meet at a lace mesh apex region.

The multi-section wig apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the first hair section, the second hair section, the third hair section and the fourth hair section are constructed of a first material, wherein the first lace mesh parting area, the second lace mesh parting area, the third lace mesh parting area and fourth lace mesh parting area are constructed of a second material, and wherein the first material and the second material are different.

6. The multi-section wig apparatus according to claim 1, wherein at least a portion of an edge of the first hair section is coupled to the first lace mesh parting area and at least a portion of an edge of the second hair section is coupled to the first lace mesh parting area.

7. The multi-section wig apparatus according to claim 6, wherein the edge of the first hair section and the edge of the second hair section do not overlap.

8. The multi-section wig apparatus according to claim 1, wherein at least a first portion of an edge of the first hair section is coupled to the first lace mesh parting area and at least a second portion of the edge of the first hair section is coupled to the second lace mesh parting area.

9. The multi-section wig apparatus according to claim 8, wherein at least a first portion of an edge of the second hair section is coupled to the first lace mesh parting area and at least a second portion of the edge of the second hair section is coupled to the third lace mesh parting area.

10. The multi-section wig apparatus according to claim 9, wherein at least a first portion of an edge of the third hair section is coupled to the second lace mesh parting area and at least a second portion of the edge of the third hair section is coupled to the fourth lace mesh parting area.

1 1. The multi-section wig apparatus according to claim 10, wherein at least a first portion of an edge of the fourth hair section is coupled to the third lace mesh parting area and at least a second portion of the edge of the fourth hair section is coupled to the fourth lace mesh parting area.

12. The multi-section wig apparatus according to claim 1 1, wherein the first lace mesh parting area, the second lace mesh parting area, the third lace mesh parting area and fourth lace mesh parting area are integrally formed.

13. The multi-section wig apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a lace mesh border coupled to at least a portion of the first hair section and to at least a portion of the second hair section, the lace mesh border being integrally formed with the first lace mesh parting area.

14. The multi-section wig apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the first hair section, the second hair section, the third hair section and the fourth hair section comprises multiple separate filaments coupled to an outer surface thereof.

15. The multi-section wig apparatus according to claim 14, wherein the filaments are disposed in one of parallel concentric arcs, parallel straight lines, circular patterns and serpentine patterns.

The multi-section wig apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a first comb member disposed in a posterior region of the first hair section, a second comb member disposed in a posterior region of the second hair section, a third comb member disposed in a posterior region of the third hair section, and a fourth comb member disposed in a posterior region of the fourth hair section.

The multi-section wig apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the artificial hair coupled to the surface of the first hair section and the second hair section is parted along the first lace mesh parting area, wherein the artificial hair coupled to the surface of the third hair section and the fourth hair section is parted along the fourth lace mesh parting area, wherein at least a portion of the artificial hair from the first hair section extends across the second lace mesh parting area and is bundled with at least a portion of the artificial hair from the third hair section, and wherein at least a portion of the artificial hair from the second hair section extends across the third lace mesh parting area and is bundled with at least a portion of the artificial hair from the fourth hair section.

The multi-section wig apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the artificial hair coupled to the surface of the first hair section is parted along the second lace mesh parting area and the artificial hair coupled to the surface of the second hair section is parted along the third lace mesh parting area, and wherein at least a portion of the artificial hair from the first hair section extends across the first lace mesh parting area and is bundled with at least a portion of the artificial hair from the second hair section that extends across the first lace mesh parting area.

The multi-section wig apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the artificial hair coupled to the surface of the first hair section is parted along the first lace mesh parting area and the second lace mesh parting area, wherein the artificial hair coupled to the surface of the second hair section is parted along the first lace mesh parting area and the third lace mesh parting area, wherein the artificial hair coupled to the surface of the third hair section is parted along the second lace mesh parting area and the fourth lace mesh parting area, and wherein the artificial hair coupled to the surface of the fourth hair section is parted along the third lace mesh parting area and the fourth lace mesh parting area, such that at least a portion of the artificial hair from each of the first hair section, the second hair section, the third hair section and the fourth hair section is pulled together into four separate bundles within each of the respective first hair section, the second hair section, the third hair section and the fourth hair section.

20. A multi- section wig apparatus, comprising: a plurality of hair sections configured to have artificial hair coupled to a surface thereof and with at least one of the hair sections corresponding to a front region of a user's head when worn and at least one of the hair sections corresponding to a rear region of the user's head when worn; a plurality of lace mesh parting areas that meet at a lace mesh apex region and are disposed between each of the hair sections; and a lace mesh border coupled to at least a portion of the hair section corresponding to the front region of the user's head, the lace mesh border being integrally formed with the lace mesh parting areas.

WIG APPARATUS INCLUDING MULTIPLE PARTING SECTIONS

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

[0001] This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62/416,888 filed on November 3, 2016, the entire content of which is incorporated herein by reference.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

[0002] The present invention relates generally to wigs, and more particularly, to a wig including multiple parting sections and a method of manufacturing the same.

2. Description of the Related Art

[0003] Wigs are used by people to enhance their appearance and to conceal their natural hair. Wigs generally include multiple strands of hair attached to a cap to form a unit that can be secured to a user's scalp. Hair weaves and hair extensions are also used by people to either conceal or supplement their natural hair. In some cases, people use wigs when they are experiencing baldness or thinning of their natural hair. For those experiencing baldness or thinning of natural hair, use of wigs provides an alternative to use of potentially dangerous hair growth drugs or chemicals, or uncomfortable hair plugs. In other cases, people use wigs for temporary purposes when they are undergoing medical treatments that result in loss of their hair, such as chemotherapy. [0004] Wigs are also used to provide a user with an alternative hair color in order to improve their appearance. Furthermore, wigs can be used by people to present an alternative texture to their own hair, such as changing their hair from straight to curly. Just as many people enjoy accessorizing their wardrobe, people who wear wigs enjoy changing and enhancing their appearance.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0005] Accordingly, an embodiment of the invention provides a multi-section wig apparatus. The wig apparatus includes: a first hair section configured to have artificial hair coupled to a surface thereof and corresponding to a front region of a user's head when worn; a second hair section configured to have artificial hair coupled to a surface thereof and corresponding to the front region of the user's head when worn; a third hair section configured to have artificial hair coupled to a surface thereof and corresponding to a rear region of the user's head when worn; a fourth hair section configured to have artificial hair coupled to a surface thereof and corresponding to the rear region of the user's head when worn; a first lace mesh parting area disposed between the first hair section and the second hair section; a second lace mesh parting area disposed between the first hair section and the third hair section; a third lace mesh parting area disposed between the second hair section and the fourth hair section; and a fourth lace mesh parting area disposed between the third hair section and the fourth hair section. [0006] According to further embodiments: the length of the first lace mesh parting area is disposed in a longitudinal orientation with respect to the user's head, and wherein the length of the fourth lace mesh parting area is disposed in a longitudinal orientation with respect to the user's head; the length of the second lace mesh parting area is disposed in a transverse orientation with respect to the user's head, and wherein the length of the third lace mesh parting area is disposed in a transverse orientation with respect to the user's head; the first lace mesh parting area, the second lace mesh parting area, the third lace mesh parting area and fourth lace mesh parting area meet at a lace mesh apex region; the first hair section, the second hair section, the third hair section and the fourth hair section are constructed of a first material, wherein the first lace mesh parting area, the second lace mesh parting area, the third lace mesh parting area and fourth lace mesh parting area are constructed of a second material, and wherein the first material and the second material are different ; at least a portion of an edge of the first hair section is coupled to the first lace mesh parting area and at least a portion of an edge of the second hair section is coupled to the first lace mesh parting area; the edge of the first hair section and the edge of the second hair section do not overlap; at least a first portion of an edge of the first hair section is coupled to the first lace mesh parting area and at least a second portion of the edge of the first hair section is coupled to the second lace mesh parting area; at least a first portion of an edge of the second hair section is coupled to the first lace mesh parting area and at least a second portion of the edge of the second hair section is coupled to the third lace mesh parting area; at least a first portion of an edge of the third hair section is coupled to the second lace mesh parting area and at least a second portion of the edge of the third hair section is coupled to the fourth lace mesh parting area; at least a first portion of an edge of the fourth hair section is coupled to the third lace mesh parting area and at least a second portion of the edge of the fourth hair section is coupled to the fourth lace mesh parting area; the first lace mesh parting area, the second lace mesh parting area, the third lace mesh parting area and fourth lace mesh parting area are integrally formed; a lace mesh border is coupled to at least a portion of the first hair section and to at least a portion of the second hair section, the lace mesh border being integrally formed with the first lace mesh parting area; the first hair section, the second hair section, the third hair section and the fourth hair section comprises multiple separate filaments coupled to an outer surface thereof; the filaments are disposed in one of parallel concentric arcs, parallel straight lines, circular patterns and serpentine patterns; a first comb member is disposed in a posterior region of the first hair section, a second comb member is disposed in a posterior region of the second hair section, a third comb member is disposed in a posterior region of the third hair section, and a fourth comb member is disposed in a posterior region of the fourth hair section; the artificial hair coupled to the surface of the first hair section and the second hair section is parted along the first lace mesh parting area, wherein the artificial hair coupled to the surface of the third hair section and the fourth hair section is parted along the fourth lace mesh parting area, wherein at least a portion of the artificial hair from the first hair section extends across the second lace mesh parting area and is bundled with at least a portion of the artificial hair from the third hair section, and wherein at least a portion of the artificial hair from the second hair section extends across the third lace mesh parting area and is bundled with at least a portion of the artificial hair from the fourth hair section; the artificial hair coupled to the surface of the first hair section is parted along the second lace mesh parting area and the artificial hair coupled to the surface of the second hair section is parted along the third lace mesh parting area, and wherein at least a portion of the artificial hair from the first hair section extends across the first lace mesh parting area and is bundled with at least a portion of the artificial hair from the second hair section that extends across the first lace mesh parting area; and the artificial hair coupled to the surface of the first hair section is parted along the first lace mesh parting area and the second lace mesh parting area, wherein the artificial hair coupled to the surface of the second hair section is parted along the first lace mesh parting area and the third lace mesh parting area, wherein the artificial hair coupled to the surface of the third hair section is parted along the second lace mesh parting area and the fourth lace mesh parting area, and wherein the artificial hair coupled to the surface of the fourth hair section is parted along the third lace mesh parting area and the fourth lace mesh parting area, such that at least a portion of the artificial hair from each of the first hair section, the second hair section, the third hair section and the fourth hair section is pulled together into four separate bundles within each of the respective first hair section, the second hair section, the third hair section and the fourth hair section.

[0007] According to a further embodiment, a multi-section wig apparatus is provides. The apparatus includes a plurality of hair sections configured to have artificial hair coupled to a surface thereof and with at least one of the hair sections corresponding to a front region of a user's head when worn and at least one of the hair sections corresponding to a rear region of the user's head when worn; a plurality of lace mesh parting areas that meet at a lace mesh apex region and are disposed between each of the hair sections; and a lace mesh border coupled to at least a portion of the hair section corresponding to the front region of the user's head, the lace mesh border being integrally formed with the lace mesh parting areas.

[0015] The following detailed description of certain embodiments will be made in reference to the accompanying drawings. In the detailed description, explanation about related functions or constructions known in the art are omitted for the sake of clearness in understanding the concept of the invention, to avoid obscuring the invention with

unnecessary detail.

[0016] The phrase "artificial hair," as used herein, refers to synthetic hair products as well as human hair or animal hair and combinations thereof. The artificial hair may be embodied in various traditional hair colors, such as black, brown, blonde, and red, as well as non-traditional hair colors, such as blue, green, and purple, and combinations thereof, including individual strands of hair having two or more colors. The artificial hair is embodied in various hair textures, such as curly, straight, crimped, wavy, and combinations thereof. As described herein, the artificial hair is embodied in varying lengths disposed in varying amounts on the wig to provide a user with a natural and fashionable appearance.

[0017] Embodiments of the invention, as further described herein, provide advantages over conventional crochet-style wigs. Conventional wigs generally only provide a user with one option for styling their artificial hair attached thereto. For example, conventional wigs only allow a user to part the artificial hair in one direction, such as a right- side part. The user is therefore unable to part the artificial hair in multiple different directions with the same wig. This is inconvenient because the user must otherwise purchase multiple wigs, with each additional wig corresponding to each individual alternative style, and swap the wig each time they desire to change the style of the artificial hair. Changing a wig each time the user would like to change the style of the artificial hair is inconvenient and impractical.

[0018] Embodiments of the invention described herein provide a wig with multiple sections of artificial hair. Each of the sections includes artificial hair coupled to a surface thereof. Mesh parting areas are disposed between each of the sections. The artificial hair from one or more of the sections may be parted along one or more of the mesh parting areas. This configuration is advantageous to a user of the wig, since the wig can be configured in multiple different parting styles.

[0019] Embodiments of the invention described herein include wigs in which artificial hair is attached directly to a mesh surface thereof. Embodiments of the invention described herein also include wigs in which artificial hair is sewn, e.g., crocheted, to a filament that is coupled to the mesh surface of the wig. A crochet-style wig generally includes a mesh cap configured to fit around a human head and a filament attached to the mesh cap according to a predetermined pattern. The filament may be, for example, a braid of artificial hair that traverses the mesh cap from one side to the other in multiple rows. Bundles of artificial hair are crocheted to the filament to create a natural-appearing and fashionable artificial hair wig. Some users prefer to attach bundles of hair to their scalp using crocheting methods. For example, some users braid their hair tightly to their scalp in, for example, what is referred to as a "corn row," and then crochet bundles of artificial hair to the corn row braid on the users' scalp. This can also be accomplished by covering the user's natural scalp with a mesh cap that has artificial braids, or some other suitable point of attachment, for crocheting the bundles of hair to the user's scalp. The crochet-style hair wigs provide the user with the ability to attach artificial hair to their scalp according to their own style and preferences.

[0020] The embodiments described herein include wig apparatuses, methods of manufacturing wigs, kits for assembling wigs, methods of assembling kits for wigs, and packaging for wigs and wig kits.

[0021] FIG. 1 A illustrates a top rear view of a multi-section wig apparatus 100. The multi-section wig 100 is shown in FIG. 1 A in an inside-out configuration for purposes of illustration. The multi-section wig 100 includes multiple separate sections of artificial hair. The artificial hair may be coupled directly to a mesh surface of the multi-section wig 100. Alternatively, the artificial hair may be crocheted to a filament that is coupled to the mesh surface of the multi-section wig 100. The multiple sections of artificial hair include a first hair section 105, a second hair section 1 10, a third hair section 1 15, and a fourth hair section 120. When worn by a user, the first hair section 105 and the second hair section 1 10 correspond to a front region of the user's head and the third hair section 1 15 and the fourth hair section 120 correspond to a rear region of the user's head. Each of the first lace mesh parting area 135, the second lace mesh parting area 140, the third lace mesh parting area 145 and the fourth lace mesh parting area 150 is constructed of lace mesh material, which includes nylon, cotton, blends thereof, and other suitable materials. [0022] Each of the first hair section 105, the second hair section 1 10, the third hair section 1 15 and the fourth hair section 120 is constructed of mesh that is configured to either have bundles of artificial hair coupled directly to an outer surface 125 thereof or have multiple separate filaments 125 coupled to the outer surface 125 thereof. In certain embodiments, each of the filaments 125 extends from substantially one edge to substantially the opposite edge of the respective hair section. Thus, the filaments 125 are longer in length the farther they are from the lace mesh apex 155. It is noted that FIG. 1 A illustrates an inner surface 130 of the multi-section wig 100, the inner surface 130 being in contact with the user's head when the multi-section wig 100 is worn by the user. Artificial hair 136 is coupled to the filaments 125. The filaments 125 are disposed in, for example, parallel concentric arcs, as indicated by "A." In certain embodiments, the filaments 125 may be disposed in parallel straight lines, circular patterns including circles of decreasing size within each separate section, and serpentine patterns, or other suitable configurations.

[0023] In certain embodiments, a higher number of the filaments 125 are present in the first hair section 105 and the second hair section 1 10 than in the third hair section 1 15 and the fourth hair section 120. In this configuration there is a higher density of the artificial hair 136 present in the first hair section 105 and the second hair section 1 10 than in the third hair section 1 15 and the fourth hair section 120. Furthermore, the filaments 125 may be disposed closer together, i.e., with less spacing therebetween, in the first hair section 105 and the second hair section 1 10 than in the third hair section 1 15 and the fourth hair section 120 in order to achieve the higher density of the artificial hair 136. [0024] The multi-section wig 100 includes a first lace mesh parting area 135, a second lace mesh parting area 140, a third lace mesh parting area 145, and a fourth lace mesh parting area 150. The first lace mesh parting area 135, the second lace mesh parting area 140, the third lace mesh parting area 145 and the fourth lace mesh parting area 150 meet at a lace mesh apex region 155. The lace mesh apex region 155 is disposed approximately in the center of the multi-section wig 100 and, when worn by a user, contacts approximately the central area of the user's head. The first lace mesh parting area 135, the second lace mesh parting area 140, the third lace mesh parting area 145 and the fourth lace mesh parting area 150 are constructed of a material different from that of the first hair section 105, the second hair section 1 10, the third hair section 1 15 and the fourth hair section 120. That is, the first lace mesh parting area 135, the second lace mesh parting area 140, the third lace mesh parting area 145 and the fourth lace mesh parting area 150 are constructed of a material configured to have individual strands of artificial hair coupled to a surface thereof and provide the appearance of a natural hair part. The first hair section 105, the second hair section 1 10, the third hair section 1 15 and the fourth hair section 120 are constructed of a material configured to have bundles of hair crocheted to the surface thereof or have filaments stitched to the surface thereof.

[0025] For example, the first hair section 105, the second hair section 1 10, the third hair section 1 15 and the fourth hair section 120 is constructed of a looser, less dense mesh than the first lace mesh parting area 135, the second lace mesh parting area 140, the third lace mesh parting area 145 and the fourth lace mesh parting area 150. For example, the first lace mesh parting area 135, the second lace mesh parting area 140, the third lace mesh parting area 145 and the fourth lace mesh parting area 150 may be constructed of hand-tied nylon, silk, or cotton lace, or other suitable materials and blends thereof.

In certain embodiments, the first lace mesh parting area 135, the second lace mesh parting area 140, the third lace mesh parting area 145 and the fourth lace mesh parting area 150 are less than 1.0 cm wide or are more than 1.0 cm wide. In certain embodiments, the material of the first lace mesh parting area 135, the second lace mesh parting area 140, the third lace mesh parting area 145 and the fourth lace mesh parting area 150 is integrally formed. That is, the first lace mesh parting area 135, the second lace mesh parting area 140, the third lace mesh parting area 145 and the fourth lace mesh parting area 150 may be constructed of one continuous piece of lace mesh.

[0027] In certain embodiments, the first lace mesh parting area 135, the second lace mesh parting area 140, the third lace mesh parting area 145 and the fourth lace mesh parting area 150 may have artificial hair coupled to an outer surface thereof. The first lace mesh parting area 135, the second lace mesh parting area 140, the third lace mesh parting area 145 and the fourth lace mesh parting area 150 provide a natural appearing hair parting area when the artificial hair coupled to each of the first hair section 105, the second hair section 1 10, the third hair section 1 15 and the fourth hair section 120 is parted along one or more of the first lace mesh parting area 135, second lace mesh parting area 140, the third lace mesh parting area 145 and fourth lace mesh parting area 150.

[0028] The first lace mesh parting area 135 is disposed between the first hair section 105 and the second hair section 1 10. A first portion of an edge of the first hair section

105 is coupled to the first lace mesh parting area 135 and a second portion of the edge is coupled to the second lace mesh parting area 140. The edge of the first hair section 105 may be stitched, stapled and/or glued to the first lace mesh parting area 135 and the second lace mesh parting area 140. The length, i.e., the longest dimension, of the first lace mesh parting area 135 is disposed in a longitudinal orientation with respect to the user's head, extending from the user's forehead towards the rear of the user's head. The second lace mesh parting area 140 is disposed between the first hair section 105 and the third hair section 1 15. A first portion of an edge of the second hair section 1 10 is coupled to the first lace mesh parting area

135 and a second portion of the edge is coupled to the third lace mesh parting area 145. The edge of the second hair section 1 10 may be stitched, stapled and/or glued to the first lace mesh parting area 135 and the third lace mesh parting area 145. The length of the second lace mesh parting area 140 is disposed in a transverse orientation with respect to the user's head, extending from one side of the user's head to the other side of the user's head, i.e., ear to ear.

The third lace mesh parting area 145 is disposed between the second hair section 1 10 and the fourth hair section 120. A first portion of an edge of the third hair section 105 is coupled to the second lace mesh parting area 140 and a second portion of the edge is coupled to the fourth lace mesh parting area 150.
