Abstract:
A vertically movable needle (41) so formed that it is lengthwise very thin comprises a front end in the form of a triangular pyramid, an edge (41b) formed around the peripheral surface of the front end, and a locking section (41c) formed immediately below the front end. The locking section consists of a notch port (41d) and a notch port section (41e) in the form of a tongue piece covering the notch port. Disposed below the locking section is a guide surface section (41f) tapered and linearly continuing from one peripheral surface of the needle to the notch port. The notch port is notched axially of the needle. The notch port section is smaller in diameter than the maximum diameter of the guide surface section. In the vertical movement of the needle, artificial hair is reliably hooked in the locking section, so that the relative movement of the needle can be effected with a highly accurate pitch width, thus making it possible to highly accurately control the pitch for the setting of the artificial hair.
