Description:
WIND FIN

TECHNICAL FIELD

The present invention relates to a wind fin that prevents aircraft wheels from wearing, heating up, and bursting and inflaming due to the friction occurring when an aircraft makes contact on the runway.

The present invention particularly relates to a wind fin that spins the rim and thereby wheels due to the wind impact and prevents aircraft wheels from wearing, heating up and bursting, and inflaming by way of minimizing the friction at the moment, when the wheels make contact on the runway, by means of equalizing the spinning speed of the wheels to the speed of the aircraft.

STATE OF THE ART

Nowadays, the average landing speed of passenger aircraft is 250 - 300 km/h. Wearing cases may be observed at these speeds during the landing due to the friction when the wheels make contact on the runway. Apart from the friction, heat is generated due to the first contact of the wheel on the ground. Said heat reaches up to 300 degrees. As a result of the heat, the aircraft wheel may burst, inflame, or get worn.

In the state of the art, there are thermal plugs that are activated in the range of 180 to 300 degrees on the aircraft rim. Said plugs are triggered by high-temperature values and reduce the pressure in the wheel by means of discharging the nitrogen gas in the wheel. This allows for discharging the gas in the wheels by reducing the pressure in the wheel, which results from the heat occurring from the friction when the aircraft wheels make contact on the runway. Thus, the wheels are prevented from puncturing, inflaming, and bursting. However, the wearing that resulting from the friction, when the aircraft lands, is still an important problem that cannot be overcome in the state of the art.

In conclusion, the need for a novel, economical, useful wind fin and insufficiency of the present solutions necessitate development in the related technical field so as to overcome the above- mentioned problems in the state of art. OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a wind fin that prevents aircraft wheels from wearing, heating up, and bursting and inflaming due to friction, wherein the wind fin inspired by the current problems aims for bringing a solution to the above-mentioned drawbacks.

The most important object of the present invention is either to eliminate completely or to minimize the friction occurring when the aircraft wheels make contact on the ground during the landing at the speed of 250 - 300 km/h. Herein, the most significant problem is the friction and the wearing of the wheels, occurring due to the heat. Once the friction is eliminated, the wearing occurring on the wheels will be minimized as well. This means that the lifespan of wheels, that are replaced after every 100-150 rounds of landing, will be much longer now. Wheels of land vehicles may be employed for 45.000 - 50.000 km, which are always in contact with the ground. Aircraft make less contact on the ground through the wheels compared to land vehicles. Unless stated otherwise, once the wearing resulting from the friction is eliminated, the wheels, of which lifespans are terminated every 100-150 rounds of landing, will be much longer. Today, it is stated that an aircraft wheel costs approximately 1.000 to 1.500 USD. The number of wheels on an aircraft may vary in the range of 6 to 22 wheels based on the model. Accordingly, the related costs will be significantly reduced by means of the present invention.

The present invention will present an economical benefit through its present state and basic method, thereby ensuring a commercial achievement.

The structural and characteristic aspects and all the advantages of the present invention will be more clearly understood by means of the following figures and the detailed description written with references to these figures. Therefore, assessment should be done by taking these figures and detailed description into consideration.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

This detailed description relates to the inventive wind fin that prevents aircraft wheels from wearing, heating up and bursting, and inflaming due to the friction occurring when aircraft wheels make contact on the runway.

As is known, aircraft vehicles are not propulsive or tractive as land vehicles are. They are just spinning neutrally, wherein they are only intended for carrying the aircraft. Aircraft carry out their movement on the ground by means of the propulsive power of engines just like in the air.

Figure 1 illustrates the rim (10) of the aircraft wheel, on which the inventive wind fin (20) is mounted, and Figure 2 illustrates the inventive wind fin (20). In the present invention, the wind fin (20) is mounted on the rim (10) of the aircraft. The mounting process on the rim (10) is performed on the outside-facing portions of the rim (20) through the mounting holes (22) bored on the connection portion (21) of the wind fin (20). Wind resulting from the aircraft approaching the runway at a speed of 250-300 km/h has a significant amount of force. Since the resulting wind impacts on the wind fins (20), the rim (10), and thus the wheels start to spin. Thus, the wearing, heating up and bursting, and inflaming of the wheels will not occur, since the friction is going to be minimized, when the wheels make contact on the ground, by means of equalizing the spinning speed of the wheel with the aircraft speed. As is clearly known, the cause of the friction is that the wheels try to reach up to the landing speed of the aircraft, because the aircraft moves speedily during landing and yet, the runway stands still. As stated previously above, since the aircraft wheels are not repulsive and tractive, the wheels spun by the wind fins (20) cannot cause any balance loss during the landing of the aircraft (with tons of weight). Tons of weight would not let this happen. Herein, the present object is to provide a spinning force for the wheels through the wind fins (20). If it is objected even that the wheels spin at the speed of the aircraft, it can be adjusted accordingly, such that it spins at a slower speed. The present invention either eliminates completely or minimizes the friction occurring when the aircraft wheels make contact on the ground during the landing at the speed of 250 - 300 km/h. Herein, the most significant problem is the friction and the wearing of the wheels, occurring due to the heat. Once the friction is eliminated, the wearing occurring on the wheels will be minimized as well. This means that the lifespan of wheels, which are replaced after every 100-150 rounds of landing, will be much longer now. Accordingly, the related costs will be significantly reduced by means of the present invention.

In the present invention, the wind fins (20) can be mounted on the rim (10) and it can be also manufactured integral with the rim (10). The inventive wind fin may be positioned on the rim or a new rim may be designed for this purpose or the present rims may be converted into proper rims, in which the wind fins may be positioned. Since rims in use are in different shapes, mounting the wind fins on the inappropriate rims can be only possible through different apparatuses.
