Abstract:
The present invention discloses a musical device constructed by using bamboo and creates a captivating humming sound of excellent quality when an air is blown inside the hole of the musical device. It comprises of an elongated cylindrical hollow tube or body (1) like a bamboo piece with one node with a hole (2) over the said body, rattle (3) inside the said body, rattle cover (4) and two distal ends, one end with bamboo node (5) and other end as free end (6) where rattle cover (4) holds the rattle (3). The position of the hole (2) is not fixed and it can be constructed anywhere on the body (1) of the musical device. A rattle (3) is assembled or fixed on the free end (6) of the body (1), particularly on left side of the musical device (101) and is covered from the outer side with a rattle cover (4). The said rattle (3) works as a resonate chamber and converts the tune of the hum into the unique sound.

Claims:

1) A musical device (101), wherein the device (101) comprising:

an elongated cylindrical hollow tube or body (1) with a hole (2) over the said body, a rattle (3) inside the said body (1), a rattle cover (4) that holds the rattle (3) and two distal ends, wherein one end with bamboo node (5) having circular hole and another end as free end

(6);

wherein, air is blown into the hum hole (2) of the body (1) of the device (101), resulting into an unique captivating sound due to the presence of the rattle (3), acting as resonate chamber and the circular hole of distal end (5) for easy pas- sage of air outside the body (1).

2) The musical device (101) as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the elongated cylindrical hollow body (1) is constructed using bamboo.

3) The musical device (101) as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the position of the hole (2) can be anywhere on the body (1) of the musical device.

4) The musical device (101) as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the rattle (3) is of Polyvinyl chlo- ride (PVC) having cylindrical structure with internal diameter approximately as 18 mm, height as 34 mm and length as 40 mm.

5) The musical device (101) as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the rattle cover (4) is a circular aluminum plate which fits on the internal surface of the body (1) of the musical device (101) and holds the rattle (3) in position.

6) The musical device (101) as claimed in Claim 6, wherein the rattle cover (4) contains five holes of 5 mm in diameter.

Description:
A WIND MUSICAL DEVICE

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[001] The present invention generally relates to a musical device and more particularly to a device which is constructed using bamboo and has capability to produce captivating sound of excellent quality with ease when simply air or wind is blown inside the hole of the device.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[002] Music is proliferating now-a-days and making musical instrument to serve the need of music lovers has become a remunerative business. With the advent of technology, demands for musical device is been raising globally. Also, the growing adoption of music as hobby, leisure or extra-curricular activity or professionally as full-fledged career choice among people is de manding a variety of musical devices in the market. Moreover, re-established interest in clas sical music is also leading to the demand for musical devices.

[003] There are many sought-after musical instruments which are available in the market with local retailers and stores which includes digital keyboards, pianos, guitar and wind instruments, but the disadvantages lying with all of them is that these devices are expensive, difficult to use and requires mastering the technicality to play them.

[004] There are also other factors which makes the playing of musical devices difficult which may include beat based musical devices, percussion based musical devices and adjusting or playing on various notes. In view of the above, the present invention provides a musical device which is easy to construct, easy to use, beat free, percussion free and notes free.

[005] Therefore, the present invention can be used to hum songs even by an untrained person without music knowledge alone, or as part of a musical choir or as the lead instrument provid ing playback of songs as in instrumental songs. OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

[006] The primary objective of the present invention is to provide an easily constructed mu sical device which is very easy to use and learn.

[007] Another objective of the present invention is to provide a musical device which is very light in weight.

[008] Another objective of the present invention is to provide a musical device which does not require professional training to operate the device.

[009] Another objective of the present invention is to provide a musical device which just requires only a sound of hum from the user’s vocal chords to produce captivating music.

[010] A further objective of the present invention is to provide a musical device which can be used from right to left or vice versa, top to down or vice versa and the user has full flexibility to use the said musical device in any way and can be played solely, in a musical choir, band or orchestra.

[Oil] Yet another objective of the present invention is to provide a musical device which also blends well with other musical devices and can be used by any genre of music such as classical, folk, rock, jazz, blues, gospel, pop etc.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[012] The following presents a simplified summary of the subject matter in order to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the embodiments of the present invention. This sum mary is not an extensive overview of the subject matter. It is not intended to identify key/critical elements of the embodiments or to delineate the scope of the subject matter.

[013] The present invention is directed to a musical device which is made of bamboo and has capability to produce sound of excellent quality with ease when simply air or wind is blown inside the hole of the device. [014] The musical device (101) of present invention comprises an elongated cylindrical hol low tube or body (1) like a bamboo piece with one node, a hole (2) over the said body, rattle (3) inside the said body, rattle cover (4) and two distal ends, one end with bamboo node (5) and other end as free end (6) where rattle cover (4) holds the rattle (3). The position of the hole (2) is not fixed and it can be made anywhere on the body (1) of the musical device. A rattle (3) is assembled or fixed on the free end (6) of the body (1), particularly on left side of the musical device (101) and is covered from the outer side with a rattle cover (4).

[015] These and other objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[017] The following description describes various features and functions of the disclosed de vice with reference to the accompanying figures. The terminology used herein is for the pur pose of describing particular embodiments only and is not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.

[018] The detailed description is construed as a description of the currently preferred embod iment of the present invention and does not represent the only form in which the present inven tion may be practiced. This is to be understood that the same or equivalent functions may be accomplished, in any order unless expressly and necessarily limited to a particular order, by different embodiments that are intended to be encompassed within the scope of the present invention. [019] The embodiment is chosen and described to provide the best illustration of the princi ples of the invention and its practical application, and to enable one of ordinary skill in the art to utilize the invention in various embodiments and with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated.

[020] Furthermore, there is no intention to be bound by any expressed or implied theory pre sented in the preceding technical field, background, brief summary or the following detailed description. It is further understood that the relational terms such as first, second etc., if any, are used solely to distinguish one from another entity, item or action without necessarily re quiring or implying any actual such relationship or order between such entities, items or ac tions.

[021] As shown in Figure 1 of the present invention, a perspective view of the musical device (101) is illustrated. The said musical device (101) comprises an elongated cylindrical hollow tube or body (1) like bamboo piece with node with a hole (2) over the said body, rattle (3) inside the said body, rattle cover (4) and two distal ends, one end with bamboo node (5) and other end as free end (6) where rattle cover (4) holds the rattle (3).The position of the hole (2) is not fixed and it can be made anywhere on the body (1) of the musical device. A rattle (3) is assembled or fixed on the free end (6) of the body (1), particularly on left side of the musical device (101) and is covered from the outer side with a rattle cover (4). The said rattle (3) works as a resonate chamber and converts the tune of the hum into the unique sound of the device. The rattle (3) is an instrument used to make rapid succession of short, sharp sounds. The rattle (3) used here is made up of Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and having cylindrical structure with internal diameter approximately as 18 mm or as per the diameter of the body (1). The length of the cylindrical rattle (3) is 40 mm. The rattle cover (4) is a circular aluminum plate which fits on the internal surface of the body (1) of the musical device (101) and holds the rattle (3) in position. Five numbers of circular holes are made on the rattle cover (4) so that air can pass through the body (1) of the musical device (101). To make the musical device (101), a bamboo piece is selected in such a manner that it contains node at its one end (5). One circular hole is made centrally on the node to make easy passage of air through the body (1) of the musical device (101) and the other end (6) of the body (1) remains open. The rattle (3) and the rattle cover (4) are fitted near the free end (6) of the body (1) of the musical device (101). [022] The resulting sound of the device that emanates through the rattle (3) has a buzz like effect that melds with the tonal notes hummed into the instrument which gives its unique ‘mixed’ sound. This mixed sound cannot be duplicated vocally and hence broadens the vocal capabilities as alternative accompaniment in melodies. The simplicity, with which the user uses the device is an added advantage, since it requires to simply hum a tune into the hum hole (2). At the other end with node (5) one circular hole is made for the passage of the air during oper ation.

[023] The musical device (101) is made from bamboo, the one used for fencing, as it is sturdy and durable. Bamboo piece with a node (closed internal partition) at one end (5) is taken and treated over heat for 10-15 minutes or more. There is a rattle (3) at one end (6) of the body (for amplifying notes) and a hole at the node (closed internal partition) on the other end (5) for the passage of the air on the opposite end. It has hole (2) through which the user has to hum, which then gets musically amplified through the body (1) of the musical device (101). The user can moderate the tone of his/her to get desired musical notes and pitch from the musical device (101), which takes some practice.

[024] The present invention promotes self-creativity, thereby letting a user makes different musical sounds. By having such musical devices, users can compose their own music and cre ate different kinds of sound combinations.

[025] The present invention promotes deeper understanding of the music among children and provides further knowledge of how sounds are produced through musical devices.

[026] The present invention requires controlled breathing as an ingredient to acquire profi ciency and versatility over the device, unlike other instruments where one undertakes the long trail of learning the technicalities of playing musical instruments. It requires no theoretical les sons to play the said musical device (101) and one can easily progress from a learner to an exponent through practice.

[027] The musical device (101) of the present invention can be played solo, as back-up or supportive role in a band/orchestra or played in an ensemble. [028] The foregoing description of the specific embodiments will so fully reveal the general nature of the embodiments herein that others can, by applying current knowledge, readily mod ify and/or adapt for various applications such specific embodiments without departing from the generic concept, and, therefore, such adaptations and modifications should and are intended to be comprehended within the meaning and range of equivalents of the disclosed embodiments.

[029] It is to be understood that the phraseology or terminology employed herein is for the purpose of description and not of limitation. Therefore, while the embodiments herein have been described in terms of preferred embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the embodiments herein can be practiced with modification within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.

[030] Although the embodiments herein are described with various specific embodiments, it will be obvious for a person skilled in the art to practice the invention with modifications. However, all such modifications are deemed to be within the scope of the claims.

[031] It is also to be understood that the following claims are intended to cover all the generic and specific features of the embodiments described herein and all the statements of the scope of the embodiments which as a matter of language might be said to fall there between.
