Title:
WINDBREAK FOR HYETOMETER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/008007
Kind Code:
A2
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a windbreak for a hyetometer, which largely decreases the intensity or speed of wind occurring around a water receiving hole of a hyetometer (rain gauge or snow gauge) so that rain or snow falling into the water receiving hole can be collected evenly and stably in the water receiving hole, and which features a very simple structure, a reduced cost of manufacture and a simplified installation process, thereby facilitating the maintenance thereof. The hyetometer where the windbreak is installed is a cylindrical-shaped measurement equipment and is adapted to include a water receiver on the top end of a main body for collecting rain, a water receiving hole serving as an inlet of the water receiver and a support formed at the bottom end and anchored to the ground. The windbreak is installed around the hyetometer in such a manner that it maintains a constant gap therebetween and encompasses the top end of the hyetometer. Also, the windbreak comprises cylindrical-shaped protrusions arranged at regular intervals around the hyetometer, the protrusion being protruded outward from the inside, and a slow speed portion with an air inlet formed inside and air outlets respectively formed on both sides thereof so as to decelerate the incoming wind.
