Title:
A WINDOW WITHIN A WINDOW
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2005/090733
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A window within a window solves the problem of opening the same window to the inside and to the outside, whereas the structure of a window is simple and compact at the same time. A window within a window made of wood, aluminium or PVC materials consists of a window frame (1), intermediate casement (2) and casement (3). By using a window handle, the intermediate casement (2) and casement (3) assembled by means of standard window fittings can be open to the outside in all the ways of opening a window known today. This provides a new way of airing a room and also new ways of cleaning the whole window pane from the outside of a building in which the window is fitted. The casement (3) can be opened to the inside in all the ways of opening a window known today, whereas the intermediate casement (2) and the window frame (1) remain stably attached by means of standard window fittings.

Description:
A WTNDOW WITHIN A WINDOW

The subject of this invention is a window within a window, or to be more exact, a window which can open to the inside or to the outside.

This invention has solved the technical problem related to this in such a way that a window structure makes it possible to open the window to the inside or also to the outside, whereas the whole window structure is compact and simple, in addition to that, all the existing functional solutions remain unchanged.

There exist no known design solutions making it possible to open the same window to the inside and to the outside. This invention solves the problem in such a way that there is an intermediate window casement which is attached to the window frame and to the window casement by means of window fittings. When manufacturing a window in accordance with this invention, there are no limitations in concern to design, choice of materials, structure, sealing systems and thermal insulation. This structure solution enabling the opening and closing system of the window makes it possible to use standard window fittings. The invention will be explained on the basis of the example and figures illustrating it.

Figure 1 : A window within a window - plan view Figure 2: A window within a window - longitudinal section

A window within a window consists of a window frame 1, intermediate casement 2 and casement 3. By means of standard window fittings, the window frame 1 is attached to the intermediate casement 2. The casement 3 is attached to the intermediate casement 2 by means of standard window fittings. A window within a window is assembled in such a way that the intermediate casement 2 is coupled to the window fittings on the window frame 1. The casement 3 is coupled to the window fittings on the intermediate casement 2, which is already attached to the window frame by means of standard window fittings. A window assembled in the way described above makes it possible to open the casement 3 to the inside using a standard window handle, in all the ways of opening a window known today. In a similar way, the window assembled in this way enables us to open the intermediate casement 2 and the casement 3 to the outside, in all the ways of opening a window known today.
