Abstract:
A wiper for removing rolling mill oil adhering to a moving strip (2) by holding the strip (2) between upper and lower wiper rolls (3, 4), wherein backup rolls (5, 6) reinforcing the wiper rolls (3, 4) each have a single sleeve (14) rotatably supported on a roll shaft through two bearings (13), the bearings (13) being disposed on the roll shaft with a span shorter than the sleeve length and with point-symmetry with respect to the upper and lower backup rolls (5, 6), thereby ensuring that the contact line pressure distribution of the wiper rolls (3, 4) against the strip (2) is uniform.
