A wire electric-discharge machining apparatus for machining a workpiece by generating an electric discharge between a wire (1) and the workpiece (2) comprises a numerical control (NC) device (8), which serves as a numerical control unit for executing numerical control of the wire electric-discharge machining apparatus in accordance with a machining program, and a display unit (14) for displaying information related to the machining of the workpiece by the wire electric-discharge machining apparatus. The numerical control unit is equipped with a wire remaining length calculation section which calculates the length of wire remaining on a wire bobbin (10) which is attached to the wire electric-discharge machining apparatus and a wire consumption length calculation section which calculates an estimated length of wire to be used for machining the workpiece. The display unit displays graphics of remaining length information, which is the result of the calculation by the wire remaining length calculation section, and estimated consumption length information, which is the result of the calculation by the wire consumption length calculation section, and adds information indicating the progress of the machining stages to the estimated consumption length information.
