This invention relates to a wire rod dividing method in wire rod mill which method is used for producing a plurality of wire coils from one slab by dividing the wire rod produced by wire rod mill on a rolling line. This equipment includes flying shears (4) for cutting the wire rod (3), disposed between rolling mill lines (2, 5) consisting of a plurality of rolling mills (ST7 ~ ST11) and after the wire rod (3) is cut by the flying shears (4), the rolling speed by the rolling mill (ST8) upstream the cutting position of the wire rod (3) or by the rolling mill (ST9) on the downstream side is controlled in order to provide a relative speed difference between the leading wire rod (3a) downstream the cutting position and the trailing wire rod (3b) upstream the cutting position. A suitable gap is secured between the leading and trailing wires (3a) and (3b), and the cut wire coils are separated reliably from one another even when the finish rolling line is used on the downstream side.
