Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a wire rod that has excellent wire drawability and makes it possible to produce steel wire that has a high tensile strength. A wire rod according to one embodiment of the present invention is configured such that: chemical components are within predetermined ranges; the mean value of %Mn+2×%Cr over the entirety of the wire rod is 0.50 to 1.00%; the metallographic structure is 90% or more perlite by area fraction; the area fraction of cementite is less than 3%; the maximum grain size of TiN is less than 15 μm; the maximum value of %Mn+2×%Cr in a region where the S content and O content are less than 1% in a center section is at most 2.0 times the mean value of the %Mn+2×%Cr over the entirety of the wire road; and the ratio of the maximum value and minimum value of %Mn+2×%Cr in a region where the S content and O content are less than 1% in an outer peripheral section is 2.0 or less.
