Abstract:
A wire saw device and a method of manufacturing a sintered magnet using the device, the wire saw device wherein pulleys are so formed that can be rotated independently of each other for each portions thereof where each of a plurality of grooves is formed to prevent the pulleys of rollers for running a fixed abrasive grain wire when a rare-earth sintered magnet is cut by the wire saw device using the fixed abrasive grain wire. The wire saw device comprises a sheave between a reel bobbin and the rollers, and a groove formed in the sheave is formed in an asymmetric shape in cross section. A method of manufacturing the rare-earth sintered magnet for cutting the rare-earth magnet by the wire saw device comprises the steps of manufacturing a magnet powder molded body, slicing the molded body by using the wire saw device in a dry state, and sintering the molded body.
