Abstract:
A hot-rolled wire which has excellent suitability for drawing and which, even when
heavily drawn from a large diameter, can be sufficiently inhibited from breaking.
The hot-rolled wire contains 0.35-0.65% C, 1.4-3.0% Si, 0.10-1.0% Mn, 0.1-2.0%
Cr, up to 0.025% (excluding 0%) P, up to 0.025% (excluding 0%) S, up to 0.006% (excluding
0%) N, up to 0.1% (excluding 0%) Al, and up to 0.0030% (excluding 0%) O, with the
remainder being iron and unavoidable impurities. The content of hydrogen in
the steel is 2.50 ppm or lower. The wire has a hardness (HV) not higher than 460×C0

(wherein C0 indicates carbon content (mass%) in the position located
at a depth of D/4 (D: diameter of the wire)).
