Abstract:
A wireless charging method includes setting a battery-containing device (2) on a charging base (1), electromagnetically coupling a power reception coil (4) of the battery-containing device (2) with a power transfer coil (3) of the charging base (1), transferring electric power from the power transfer coil (3) to the power reception coil (4) by electromagnetic induction, and charging a battery in the battery-containing device (2) with the electric power induced in the power reception coil (4). Further, the wireless charging method includes determining whether metallic foreign matter (5) is set in the vicinity of the battery-containing device (2) by detecting the amount of change (ΔH) in the inductance of a detection coil (K) by utilizing the fact that the inductance of the detection coil (K) is increased by a magnetic shield and the like when the battery-containing device is set or decreased when metallic foreign matter is set.
