Abstract:
Provided is a wireless communication system that enables wireless communication between the outside and a wireless sensor provided inside a metal housing, at least passively and wirelessly with respect to the wireless sensor. A wireless communication system 1001a is equipped with: a wireless sensor 1003 provided inside a metal housing 1002a; a receiver 1004 that is provided outside of the metal housing 1002a and that receives radio waves from the wireless sensor 1003; and a passive relay device 1006 provided between the inside and the outside of the metal housing 1002a. In addition, this wireless communication system may be equipped with a slit provided in the metal housing in place of the passive relay device, and when the wavelength of the fundamental wave of the radio waves is λ and the dielectric constant of the opening of the slit is ε, the length L of the slit satisfies the equation L = (λ/2) × (1/√ε).
