Abstract:
Provided is a wireless communication system capable of achieving a sheet LAN using terahertz waves. A wireless communication system according to an aspect of the present invention comprises: hollow waveguides (15a to 15d) which are provided on a planar substrate (10) and which can guide terahertz waves; and dielectric members (21a to 21d) provided to cover a part of the top surface of the hollow waveguides (15a to 15d). The dielectric members (21a to 21d) are provided with a metamaterial (24), when a communication device (30) is not close to the metamaterial (24), the terahertz waves guided through the hollow waveguides (15a to 15d) are reflected by the metamaterial (24), whereas when the communication device (30) is close to the metamaterial (24), a part of the terahertz waves guided through the hollow waveguides (15a to 15d) pass through the dielectric members (21a to 21d) comprising the metamaterial (24) and are guided to the communication device (30).
