Abstract:
An apparatus (200) and method for bi-directional communication using sound waves is disclosed. The invention uses a multi-carrier modulation scheme to transmit and receive digital data on acoustic waves. In one embodiment, acoustic waves having frequencies in the range between approximately 1kHz to 3kHz are used such that digital data can be transmitted by a standard speaker (230) and microphone (240).
