Abstract:
Disclosed is a word recognition device for improving recognition precision even when a plurality of words containing a matching portion are candidates for recognition. The word recognition device is provided with an input means for inputting a word image wherein a plurality of characters are displayed; a word candidate selection means for, on the basis of a plurality of words that have been registered in the word dictionary, recognizing a word image that has been input by way of the input means and selecting a first word candidate and a second word candidate; and a verification means for comparing the first word candidate and the second word candidate character by character, and on the basis of a rating value when a word image has been recognized by way of a character that has been determined not to match, verifying the likelihood of the first word candidate.
