Abstract:
Provided is a work machine that can easily prevent a vehicle body or a work device from making contact with an obstacle in the surrounding area, even when the vehicle body has moved. A controller 19 comprises: an avoidance region position setting unit 47 that sets, in a coordinate system of a construction site, an avoidance region into which the intrusion of a vehicle body 2 or a work device 33 is restricted; vehicle position computation units 45, 46 that compute, within the coordinate system of the construction site, the position of a first reference point preset on the vehicle body or the work device; and an index value computation unit 48 that calculates an index value that monotonically increases or monotonically decreases in accordance with the proximity of the first reference point to the avoidance region.
