Abstract:
A work machine (1) comprises: a work apparatus (12) having a basket (19); a topography sensor (35) that measures topography; and a controller (27) that acquires an excavation path (PA1) of the basket (19) and that measures the weight of a material held by the basket (19). On the basis of the excavation path (PA1) and topographical data indicating the topography measured by the topography sensor (35), the controller (27) calculates the volume of the material held by the basket (19) and calculates the density of the material by dividing the measured weight of the material by the calculated volume of the material.
