Abstract:
A hydraulic excavator is provided with a controller (40) that executes area limiting control in which a boom (8) is forcibly raised so that the distal end of a bucket remains on a face to be excavated and in an area above same when an operation instruction is given to an arm (9) or a bucket (10) by an operation device (45b, 46a). When the distal end of the bucket is located below the face to be excavated, the controller determines whether to select a first mode or a second mode that is regulated to a slower speed than the first mode as a control mode for the speed of raising the boom when executing area limiting control, and controls the speed of raising the boom on the basis of the determination results.
