The present invention is provided with: direction switching valves 43, 44 that control the flow rate and direction of pressurized oil to be supplied to each of a boom cylinder 32 and a bucket cylinder 36; a manipulation amount detection device 51a, 52a, 52b that detects the amount of manipulation of an operation lever device 51, 52; a variable flow rate control valve 45 that can restrict the flow rate of the pressurized oil in a meter-in channel of the direction switching valve 44 associated with the bucket cylinder 36; and a controller 60 that controls the variable flow rate control valve on the basis of the detection results of the manipulation amount detection device; wherein the controller switches to either a normal mode in which the flow rate of the pressurized oil is restricted by the variable flow rate control valve in accordance with the detection results of the amount of manipulation of a plurality of operation devices or a responsiveness priority mode in which the flow rate of the pressurized oil is not restricted by the variable flow rate control valve. In this manner, responsiveness can be improved for operations requiring responsiveness such as operations for which the amount of manipulation of an operation lever changes frequently within a short time period, and decrease in work efficiency can be suppressed.
