Abstract:
Provided is workpiece conveying equipment wherein a first conveying path (L1) and a second conveying path (L3) are combined together, the first conveying path (L1) being a path where an automobile body or the like is conveyed longitudinally, that is, in the lengthwise direction thereof, the second conveying path (L3) being a path where the automobile body or the like is conveyed laterally, that is, in the transverse direction thereof. A workpiece conveying travel body (1) consists of a workpiece support trolley (2) and an auxiliary trolley (3) which adjoins at least one of either the front or the rear of the workpiece support trolley (2), the aforementioned front and rear being the forward end and the aft end, respectively, of the workpiece support trolley (2) as seen in the direction in which the workpiece support trolley (2) travels on the first conveying path (L1). In the first conveying path (L1), there is installed a workpiece conveying travel body driving means for causing the workpiece support trolley (2) and the auxiliary trolley (3) to travel in an integral manner. At branch point (P1) where the second conveying path (L3) branches off the first conveying path (L1), there is installed a trolley branching means for branching only the workpiece support trolley (2) in such a way that the workpiece support trolley (2) is introduced perpendicularly into the second conveying path (L3), with the transverse direction of the workpiece support trolley (2) kept unchanged. On the second conveying path (L3), there is installed a work support trolley driving means for causing the workpiece support trolley (2) to travel transversely in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which the workpiece support trolley (2) has been traveling on the first conveying path (L1).
