Abstract:
A woven fabric of isotropic pitch carbon fiber having a per-area mass of 200 to 700 g/m2 and a thickness of 0.35 to 3.65 mm is obtained through the steps of producing an isotropic pitch carbon fiber by melt spinning with the use of a horizontal centrifugal spinning machine, drawing the same, depositing it on a belt conveyor and carrying out infusibilization and firing to thereby obtain a mat of isotropic pitch carbon fiber; using a carding machine, performing drawing/carding treatment of the mat of isotropic pitch carbon fiber to thereby obtain a first sliver; drawing the first sliver by means of a first drawing frame to thereby obtain a second sliver and drawing the second sliver by means of a second drawing frame to thereby obtain a third sliver; drawing the finally obtained sliver by means of a fine spinning machine into a spun yarn of 30 to 1500 tex fineness; and weaving the spun yarn.
