Description:
WRAPPING FOR FORMING A PACKAGE Technical Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a wrapping for forming a package, said wrapping comprising a net, that the wrapping is equipped with a number of straps that are distributed along the longitudinal direction of the wrapping, and that the wrapping comprises means that in cooperation with the straps may provide tightenings around the wrapping in order to create a number of delimited compartments along the longitudinal direction of the wrapping.

Prior Art From FR 813280 a rucksack is previously known, said rucksack comprising a number of storing compartments that are created from two separate nets. A first net is provided inside the storing space of the rucksack itself, said first net being divided into three storing compartments. A second net is attached to the inner side of an openable flap of the rucksack, said second net also being divided into three storing compartments. All compartments have a certain predetermined size. When the flap is closed the first and second nets will be opposite to each other. The nets are permanently mounted inside the rucksack and on the flap of the rucksack respectively.

From DE 36 21 044 a case is previously known, said case comprising a number of different extendable storing compartments, of which the ones adapted for dirty linen constitute a net. All of the compartments have a certain predetermined size. The case according to DE 36 21 044 is equipped with a loop in order to enable the suitcase to hang from a hook or the like.

From US 4,753,329 a bag is previously known, said bag may assume a un-folded position in the shape of an oblong double-walled casing that is separated into three compartments that are available via zip fasteners. All of the compartments have a certain predetermined size. The double-walled casing may be folded to a package having the shape of a substantially cylindrical bag.

Objects and Features of the Invention A primary object of the present invention is to present a wrapping for forming a package as defined above, said wrapping may in a user-friendly way receive items of equipment and/or other articles, preferably for personal use.

A further object of the present invention is to divide, in a simple way, the wrapping into compartments of different size.

Still an object of the present invention is that access to an individual compartment should be easy, also subsequent to the division of the wrapping into compartments, said compartments receiving items of equipment and/or other articles, preferably for personal use.

A further object of the present invention is that the items of equipment/articles, preferably for personal use, that are stored inside the wrapping are readily identifiable.

At least the primary object of the present invention is realised by means of a wrapping for forming a package, said wrapping being defined by the features of the appending independent claim. Preferred embodiments of the wrapping according to the present invention are defined in the dependent claims.

Brief Description of the Drawings Below an embodiment of the invention with be described, reference being made to the accompanying drawings, where: Fig 1 shows a top view of the wrapping according to the present invention, said wrapping being in rolled condition, i. e. in inactive position, also a first cover for storing of the wrapping in inactive position is shown; Fig 2 shows a top view of the wrapping according to the present invention when it is unrolled in its entire length, however still in inactive position; Fig 2A shows a detail of one end of the wrapping when it is about to be spread out; Fig 3 shows a top view of the wrapping according to the present invention when it is spread out, i. e. in

position for receiving items of equipment and/or other articles, preferably for personal use; Fig 4 shows a perspective view of the wrapping according to the present invention when it is in a final stage of packing of items of equipment and/or other articles, preferably for personal use; Fig 5 shows a top view of the wrapping according to the present invention when the packing of said wrapping is finished; and Fig 6 shows a side view of the wrapping according to the present invention when it is suspended in a hook.

Detailed Description of a Preferred Embodiment of the Wrapping according to the Present Invention In Fig 1 the wrapping 1 according to the present invention is shown when it is rolled to a roller, said wrapping 1 in this rolled state may be stored in a first cover 3 that is also shown in Fig 1. Said first cover 3 is suitably manufactured from a waterproof material, e. g. coated fabric (galloon).

In Fig 2 the wrapping 1 according to the present invention is shown unrolled in its entire length, it being evident from Fig 2 that the wrapping 1 comprises a net 5 that in Fig 2 is connected along its longitudinal edge portions by Velcro tapes that will be described more in detail below.

Thus, the wrapping 1 is shown double folded in Fig 2 regarding its longitudinal direction. As regards the material of the net 5, said material preferably constitutes a plastic material.

In Fig 2A is shown how the wrapping 1 according to the present invention is about to be spread out. As is evident from Fig 2A the wrapping 1 is equipped with a first Velcro tape 7 and a second Velcro tape 9 along its respective longitudinal edge portions. These Velcro tapes 7,9 are in a conventional way designed as a pair of cooperating tapes 7,9.

The first tape 7 is for instance on one side provided with hooks while the other tape 9 on one side is provided with loops. When these active sides of the two tapes 7 and 9 are brought to contact each other the hooks of the first tape 7

will engage the loops of the second tape 9 and thereby a so- called Velcro closing has been established.

In Fig 2A a portion of said Velcro closing has been opened by pulling the Velcro tapes 7 and 9 apart from each other, said portion being located at one end of the wrapping 1.

In Fig 3 it is shown how the wrapping 1 according to the present invention is totally spread out, i. e. the Velcro closing is opened along its entire length, i. e. the Velcro tapes 7 and 9 have been pulled apart along the entire length of the wrapping 1. The wrapping 1 is placed on a ground, preferably a floor. From Fig 3 it is also evident that the net 5 that constitutes an essential part of the wrapping 1 is provided with lining strips 10 that protect the short sides of the net 5 and prevent these from being torn up or subjected to other damage in connection with handling of the wrapping 1.

The two Velcro tapes 7 and 9 have the same function as regards the longitudinal edges of the net 5, i. e. they prevent that the net 5 is torn up or subjected to other damage. Both the Velcro tapes 7,9 and the lining strips 10 are preferably connected to the net 5 by being sewed up with the net 5. As is most evident from Fig 3 the wrapping 1 is also equipped with four first loops 11 that are attached in the area of the corners of the wrapping 1 and one second loop 12 that is attached in the area of the longitudinal mid portion of the first Velcro tape 7. The loops 11 and 12 are preferably connected to the wrapping 1 by being sewed up with the Velcro tapes 7 and 9.

In Fig 3 it is also shown how a number of, in the shown embodiment nine, third Velcro tapes 13 are connected to the wrapping 1, more precisely with the first Velcro tape 7 of the wrapping 1, said connection preferably being achieved by having the third Velcro tapes 13 sewed up with the first Velcro tape 7. In Fig 3 the third Velcro tapes 13 are shown spread out, whereby it is realised that said third Velcro tapes 13 have a relatively seen restricted length. As will be described below these third Velcro tapes 13 cooperate in active position with short pieces of fourth Velcro tapes 14, see Fig 2A, the third and fourth Velcro tapes 13 and 14 being

designed in principially the corresponding way as the first and second Velcro tapes 7 and 9, i. e. the third Velcro tapes 13 are for instance equipped with hooks while the fourth Velcro tapes 14 are equipped with loops. In Fig 2 the third Velcro tapes 13 are shown in rolled condition, i. e. they are rolled and the free end of the third Velcro tapes 13 are connected to the appurtenant fourth Velcro tapes 14 (not shown in Fig 2) in order to maintain the third Velcro tapes 13 in rolled position.

In Fig 3 two heaps 15 of items of equipment/articles, preferably for personal use, are shown, said heaps 15 being placed on the wrapping 1. The person that carries out the packing of the wrapping 1 may of course choose to place further heaps of items of equipment/articles on the wrapping 1. When a desired number of heaps 15 have been placed on the wrapping 1, said wrapping 1 is folded up and the first and second Velcro tapes 7 and 9 are brought into engagement with each other. Thereby the wrapping 1 forms an elongated package that is tightened at desired locations by means of the third Velcro tapes 13 that in this connection are brought to cooperate with the fourth Velcro tapes 14 in order to create tightenings 16, see Fig 4.

As is illustrated in Fig 4 a number of compartments are created along the longitudinal direction of the filled wrapping 1 by these tightenings 16. In this connection it should be pointed out that the size of said compartments may vary by having certain of the third Velcro tapes 13 not activated, in Fig 4 it is shown how a third Velcro tape 13 is not activated. By this arrangement a compartment is achieved that is in principle twice the size of the rest of the compartments in Fig 4.

It is also evident from Fig 4 that the person that packs the wrapping 1 may open an individual compartment in order to complete or revise the packing when the wrapping 1 is lying on the floor. This is made possible by having the longitudinal edges of the wrapping 1 connected to each other by means of the cooperating Velcro tapes 7,9 that easily may be pulled apart exactly in the area of the compartment that the packing person wants access to. When packing the wrapping 1 it may be

suitable to avoid to pack any items of equipment/articles in for instance one or two of the compartments, whereby these compartments may be used for instance for dirty linen that is produced if the wrapping 1 is used as package during a longer trip.

In Fig 5 the wrapping 1 according to the present invention is shown in a state where the packing is finalised, i. e. the wrapping is divided into a number of compartments that on both sides are delimited by tightenings 16. As is indicated in Fig 5 the transparent net 5 brings about that the content in the different compartments may be registrated without the need for opening the wrapping 1. In this connection it should be pointed out that the net preferably is manufactured from a material that is extensible in a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction of the wrapping 1 but not extensible in the longitudinal direction of the wrapping 1. By this arrangement the wrapping 1 may be extended in said direction transverse to the longitudinal direction of the wrapping 1 in order to allow further items of equipment/articles to be supplied to said compartment.

In Fig 5 a second cover 17 is also shown, said cover 17 only being shown in reduced length. Said second cover 17 may be pulled over the wrapping 1 when the packing is completed, said second cover 17 preferably being manufactured from a waterproof material, e. g. coated plastic (galloon). In order to simplify the pulling over of the second cover 17 it may be attached to one end of the wrapping 1 and then said wrapping 1 is suspended in a hook or the like by means of the loop 11 located at the end where the second cover 17 is attached.

Subsequently the second cover 17 may easily be pulled over the entire wrapping 1 that is fully packed.

In Fig 6 it is shown how the wrapping 1 is suspended in a hook 18 by means of the second loop 12 that is located substantially at the middle of the wrapping 1 seen in its longitudinal direction. This may be especially suitable when access is wanted to any of the compartments of the packed wrapping 1, this being indicated by the shown hand 19 in Fig 6. The situation shown in Fig 6 will arise frequently when the wrapping is used as package on a trip or the like where

several short stops occur. In such a situation it is not meaningful to unpack the entire wrapping 1 but it is normally only necessary to get access to one or more of the compartments, this being effected in the way shown in Fig 6.

In this connection it should be pointed out that the above mentioned feature of the net 5, i. e. that it is not extendable in the longitudinal direction of the wrapping 1, brings about that when suspending the wrapping 1 in the way shown in Fig 6 the portions of the wrapping 1 that suspend from the hook 18 will in principle not be prolongated.

When the complete un-packing of the wrapping 1 is to take place, i. e. when the wrapping is to be completely emptied of its content, either by using the way shown in Fig 6 when the compartments are emptied one by one, or alternatively by placing the wrapping 1 on a ground and opening the entire longitudinal edge of the wrapping 1 by having the first and second Velcro tapes 7 and 9 pulled apart.

Feasible Modifications of the Invention In the description above of the shown embodiment it has been stated that the Velcro tapes 7,9,13,14 and the loops 11,12 preferably are connected to the wrapping by being sewed up to said wrapping. Within the scope of the present invention it is of course also feasible that said Velcro tapes and loops are connected to the wrapping 1 in an alternative way. In exemplifying and non-restricting purpose glueing or heat welding may be mentioned.

In the embodiment described above the Velcro tapes 7,9 are thus attached along the longitudinal edges of the wrapping 1. However, the invention is not restricted to the use of Velcro tapes in order to provide a detachable connection of said longitudinal edges of the wrapping 1. In exemplifying and non-restricting purpose buttons, preferably push-buttons, or hook closures may be mentioned, said means in such a case being arranged at suitable mutual distance from each other along the longitudinal edges of the wrapping 1. Preferably, the connecting means are of the type that admits an individual compartment of the wrapping 1 to be opened.

According to the embodiment described above the wrapping 1 according to the present invention has nine third Velcro tapes 13 that may be brought to define at most eight compartments. However, within the scope of the invention alternative dimensions of the wrapping are feasible due to the pertinent area of use. If the wrapping according to the present invention for instance is to be used in connection with a biking holiday it may be suitable that the wrapping is designed in such a way that it comprises lesser compartments than the wrapping described above, this being due to the fact that the wrapping preferably is to be accomodated in a carrier bag. It may also be suitable that smaller wrappings according to the present invention are equipped with means in order to be connected with each other, where for instance two connected smaller wrappings in principle constitute a larger wrapping that is suitable to store in for instance a rucksack.

In the embodiment described above third and fourth Velcro tapes 13,14 are used to provide tightenings 16.

However, within the scope of the present invention it is also feasible that the belts that provide tightenings 16 are of the type that provide said tightenings by means of a cooperating buckle or the like. In exemplifying and non-restricting purpose belts/straps of the type that are used for holding a pair of skies together may be mentioned.

A further alternative, within the scope of the present invention, to the Velcro tapes 13,14 that provide the tightenings 16 is draw closures, where the strings in such a case run in sheaths on the outside of the wrapping. When belts are used to provide the tightenings, also these belts may run in sheaths. Preferably the sheaths are designed in such a way that they allow a certain displacement of the belts/strings in the longitudinal direction of the wrapping.
