Abstract:
An XY guide table capable of guiding an upper plate in an X- and Y-directions relative to a lower plate without rattling by increasing the rigidity of the portion thereof where ball rolling surfaces are formed to eliminate clearances between balls and ball rolling grooves and formable in an extremely thin shape. The XY guide table comprises the lower plate, an intermediate plate, and the upper plate assembled with each other through the balls. Each of the lower plate and the upper plate comprises a pair of rail bodies of roughly rectangular shape in cross section and a storage groove held by these rail bodies, and is formed in a roughly channel shape. The ball rolling grooves are formed in the side faces of each rail body facing the storage grooves. These plates are stacked so that the storage grooves can be opposed to each other and crossed with each other. The intermediate plate is formed in a roughly rectangular shape, and the lower half thereof is loosely fitted to the storage grooves of the lower plate and the upper half is loosely fitted to the storage grooves of the upper plate.
