Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a yeast culture and a composition each having a high methylthioadenosine content; and novel use applications of the yeast culture and the composition. The present invention provides: a yeast culture which contains methylthioadenosine or a salt thereof and has a methylthioadenosine content of more than 5.5 mass%; and a composition for internal application, which comprises yeast and methylthioadenosine or a salt thereof, and has a ratio of the content of methylthioadenosine or the salt thereof in terms of methylthioadenosine content to the total content of methylthioadenosine or the salt thereof and the yeast is 1/10000 to 1/2 inclusive by mass. The yeast culture can be produced by heating a yeast culture containing S-adenosylmethionine or a salt thereof or allowing the yeast culture to stand. Each of the yeast culture and the composition for internal application is useful as an active ingredient for a sleep aid.
