Abstract:
Provided is a zinc oxide varistor manufacturing method which, focusing on zinc oxide per se as a main raw material of a zinc oxide varistor (multilayer varistor), comprises adding a predetermined amount of additive to a zinc oxide powder having, for example, a crystallite size of 20 to 50 nm, a particle diameter according to a specific surface area BET method of 15 to 60 nm, an untamped density of 0.38 to 0.50 g/cm3, and a tap density of 0.50 to 1.00 g/cm3. In this way, a zinc oxide varistor can be provided in which uniformity, high compactness, and high electric conductivity are ensured in a zinc oxide sintered body, and which has high surge withstand capability.
