Title:
ZIRCONIUM ALLOY FOR NUCLEAR FUEL ASSEMBLY
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2001/009402
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A zirconium alloy for nuclear fuel assemblies which contains iron, chromium, tin, and niobium. The alloy further contains oxygen purposely incorporated. The proportions of these elements are effective in improving both strength and corrosion resistance. The total amount of tin and niobium influences strength, and is preferably 0.7 wt.% or larger. The total amount of iron and chromium is also important and is preferably 0.28 to 1.0 wt.%. Thus, proof stress (strength) is enhanced and corrosion resistance is improved simultaneously. Further, hydrogen absorption and dimensional stability can be improved.
