A system for modifying process control data comprising a database configured to store process control data; a database server communicatively coupled to the database and configured to access the process control data in the database; a query builder communicatively coupled to the database server and configured to generate queries and communicate the queries to the database server, to enable the database server to retrieve the process control data from the database based on the queries; and a data interface communicatively coupled to the query builder and configured to import or export the process control data in an extensible markup language format.
