To provide a shielding foil removing method for easily and quickly removing a shielding foil, and a shielding foil removing device.SOLUTION: A shielding foil removing method is a method for removing a part of a shielding foil 4 of a sheath cable 2, and includes the steps of: bending a subarea of the sheath cable 2 including a predetermined break point 5 running along a circumference to a first direction, and applying, at the break point 5, tearing tension so that the shielding foil tears at the break point 5; moving a first part of the sheath cable 2 in essentially ellipse, in particular circular, movement so as to apply tearing tension over the entire circumference of shielding foil 4, thereby tearing the shielding foil 4 at the predetermined break point 5 over the entire circumference of the shielding foil 4; and removing separated part of the shielding foil 4 from the sheath cable 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
