Abstract:
To provide a waterborne liquid sound damping composition having sound damping performance, appearance and water resistance, a method of imparting sound and vibration damping to a substrate, and a coated substrate formed by the method.SOLUTION: A waterborne damping composition includes a waterborne emulsion polymer, the polymer having a calculated acid number of 2 to 100; 0.1% to 50% solids based on emulsion polymer solids, of certain liquid compounds having a boiling point greater than 150°C; and a solid filler at a level of 25% to 85% PVC (pigment volume concentration); where the waterborne damping composition has a water content of 6 to 25 wt.%. Also provided are a method for providing a coated substrate using the composition, and the coated substrate.SELECTED DRAWING: None
