Abstract:
To provide an electrically insulated/sealed cap for electrically insulating a faster from an electric current of spark when an electromagnetic effect (EME)/thunderstruck phenomenon occurs.SOLUTION: A cap assembly 36 includes a first cap member 38 which includes a bore and a surface positioned within the bore which defines first threads, and the first cap member also includes an external surface which defines second threads 48. A second cap member 50 includes a sidewall which defines a receptacle 58 with an opening which provides access to an interior of the receptacle, and the sidewall includes an interior surface which defines third threads compatibly configured to engage the second threads. The third threads are positioned along the interior surface of the receptacle and extended along a length of the receptacle in a first distance. Second threads are positioned along the external surface of the first cap member and extended along a length of the external surface over a second distance. The first distance of the first cap member is greater than the second distance.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
