To provide an abnormality detection apparatus and an abnormality detection method capable of detecting an abnormality of a current sensor in a short time.SOLUTION: An abnormality detection device that detects an abnormality occurring in a power conversion system includes a current sensor that detects a current flowing in a path between a power conversion device and the multiphase AC motor and outputs a detection value, and a controller that detects whether there is an abnormality in the current sensor, and the controller compares the detection value with a first reference range indicating a normal state of the power conversion system, and detects an abnormality of the current sensor on the basis of the total current indicating the sum of the currents flowing through the respective phases of the multiphase AC motor when it is detected that the detection value is outside the first reference range.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
