Abstract:
To provide a method capable of manufacturing a retardation film having a slow axis in an oblique direction, at high manufacturing efficiency.SOLUTION: A manufacturing method for a retardation film of the present invention includes: a step of obliquely drawing a long-sized film; and a step of joining a terminal end part of the long-sized film having previously provided the oblique drawing step and a starting end part of a new long-sized film to be joined to the long-sized film, with an adhesive tape. The manufacturing method for the retardation film performs the oblique drawing step, before the oblique drawing step, by gripping left and right ends of the film to be drawn by variable pitch left and right clips in which a clip pitch in a vertical direction varies individually and by independently varying the clip pitches of the left and right clips, respectively. An angle between a junction line of the terminal end part of the long-sized film and the starting end part of the other long-sized film and a crosswise direction of the long-sized film is -10° to 10°.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
