Title:
MICROFLUIDIC MODEL OF BLOOD BRAIN BARRIER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2021000133
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
To provide culturing brain endothelial cells, and optionally astrocytes and neurons in a fluidic device under conditions whereby cells mimic a structure and function of a blood brain barrier.SOLUTION: Culture of such cells in a microfluidic device, whether alone or in combination with other cells, drives maturation and/or differentiation further than existing systems. In one embodiment, a microfluidic chip comprises two microchannels separated by a porous membrane having first and second surfaces, wherein neurons are cultured on the first or second surface.SELECTED DRAWING: None
