Abstract:
To provide an air bag device in which an air bag at the time of expansion completion can receive and protect a head of an occupant while accurately suppressing rotation.SOLUTION: At the time of vehicle collision, an air bag 15 receives and protects an occupant M who moves forward, by an occupant restraint surface 22. The air bag comprises: a recess 38 which is recessed with a longitudinal direction larger than a cross direction; and a front side expansion part 28 and a rear side expansion part 42 around the recess. The rear side expansion part comprises: a tabular expansion part 44 which so makes an upper side of the occupant restraint surface as to be a head restraint surface 23 for receiving a head H of the occupant; and edge side expansion parts 50L, 50R which connect both of left and right edges of the tabular expansion part and the front side expansion part to each other. The front side expansion part can support the left and right edge side expansion parts, and projects from a storage portion so as to be supported from a circumference of the storage portion. The tabular expansion part is supported by the left and right edge side expansion parts so as to enable entry of the head of the occupant into the recess while bending the same so as to wrap a front side of the head of the occupant when receiving the head of the occupant moving forward.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
