Abstract:
PURPOSE:To perform noncontact detection of the abnormality of rotor at the stator side during operation by forming at least a part of a normal temperature dapmer of a material in which Curie point is conditioned to cause transition from nonmagnetic state to magnetic state upon lowering of the operating temperature of the normal temperature damper while furthermore providing the stator with a field detector. CONSTITUTION:A field detector 10 is mounted on an air gap armature winding 2 on the stator side. A normal temperature damper 9 is made of a material in which Curie point is conditioned to cause transition from nonmagnetic state to magnetic state upon lowering of the operating temperature of the normal temperature damper 9. Upon occurrence of vacuum leak in first or second adiabatic vacuum layer 7 or 7a, temperature of the normal temperature damper 9 drops due to thermal conduction through a radiation shield 8, a torque tube 11, helium, or the like having lower temperature and thereby the normal temperature damper 9 makes a transition from nonmagnetic state to magnetic state thus shielding the field of a field winding 6 and disturbing the field distribution. The field detector 10 then makes a noncontact detection of the abnormality of the rotor 1 based on the disturbance of the field distribution.
