Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve cycle characteristic and increase capacity by treating manganese oxide with an acidic solution containing NH4 ion to form a manganese compound, and using a compound obtained by baking this compound together with lithium salt as a positive electrode. CONSTITUTION:Baking is conducted to make tetravalent manganese contained in electrolytic manganese dioxide EMD into trivalent one. As an acidic solution containing NH4 ion, (NH4)2SO4 is added to a sulfuric acid solution followed by heating, and the EMD after baking is added thereto and stirred. After stirring, the resulting solution is washed with pure water and dried. LiOH.H2 is mixed as a lithium salt with this sample to obtain a positive electrode active material consisting of a compound of manganese, lithium and oxygen, A nonaqueous electrolytic secondary battery is formed by use of this positive electrode active material. Hence, charge and discharge cycle characteristic and capacity can be improved.
