Abstract:
The invention relates to magnetic recording media obtained by preparing a dispersion of an anisotropic magnetic material and conventional additives in a solution of polymeric binder in an organic solvent, applying the dispersion as a coating to a non-magnetisable support material, subsequently aligning the anisotropic magnetic material in a magnetic field and solidifying the applied magnetic coating, where the magnetic coating contains hydrophobicised polysilicic acid and optionally a highly viscous polysiloxane.
