Abstract:
A gear reduction apparatus 210 for a bicycle component comprises a gear support 300, a first gear 304 coupled to the gear support 300 for receiving rotational drive force from a drive component, and a second gear 310 coupled to the gear support 300 for communicating rotational drive force to a driven portion of the bicycle component. The first gear 304 is operatively coupled to the second gear 310 to communicate rotational drive force from the drive component to the driven portion of the bicycle component, and the first gear 304, the second gear 310 and the gear support 300 are coupled together so that the first gear 304, the second gear 310 and the gear support 300 may be coupled to and removed from the drive component and the driven portion of the bicycle component as a self-contained unit.
