A kin color region detection section 121 detects skin color regions from an image of image data, supplied from a signal acquisition section 94. A region determining section 111 selects regions, including the detected skin color regions on the image of the image data supplied from the signal acquisition section 94. A zoom processing section 113 generates image data for displaying the selected regions magnified at a prescribed zoom magnification. The zoom processing section 113 supplies the generated image data to a display section 96, to make the display section 96 display the zoom image. The invention can be applied to television receivers.
