To provide a method for manufacturing a connecting rod, which includes a coining work capable of improving the accuracy of a shape while preventing deterioration of strength, and a device therefor.
A connecting rod W has a large end part W1, a small end part W2, and a column part W3 connecting both end parts. The device conducts a coining work to fabricate the connecting rod W, by clamping and pressurizing the large end part W1 and the small end part W2 with coining dies 2. The method comprises: a heating step S4 of previously heating the column part W3 of the connecting rod W except for the large end part W1 and the small end part W2; a coining step S5 of clamping and pressurizing the large end part W1 and the small end part W2 of the connecting rod W, which has the heated column part W3, with coining dies 2; and a cooling step S6 of cooling the column part W3 in a coining state that the large end part W1 and the small end part W2 are pressurized by the coining dies 2.
