To provide a seal device of a heating furnace free from degradation of sealing performance caused by generation of scale, not needing labor hour for charging a seal material, and capable of keeping high operation efficiency.
A carriage 3 loading a heated material W is put in/out into/from the heating furnace E in which a furnace wall is molded into the substantially portal type section, a hearth of the heating furnace E is formed by the carriage 3 in an ingressive state, and the seal device is disposed to seal between a side edge of the carriage 3 and an eaves wall 2 of the heating furnace E. The seal device is composed of a seal material storage tank 51 disposed on the carriage 3 and storing the seal material, and a seal plate 52 disposed on the eaves wall 2 while that its tip section is entered into the seal material in the seal material storage tank 51, and further the seal material storage tank 51 is disposed on a position to receive the scale 62 falling from the carriage 3 to use the received scale 62 as the seal material.
