Abstract:

To restrain inexpensively and securely the elution of fluorine from slag containing fluorine which is generated in the process using a converter to be 0.8 mg/L or less which is a reference value prescribed in Environment Agency notification No.46 in 1991.

By cooling slag generated in the process using a converter which has CaO/SiO2of ≥1.5 and ≤2.5 and contains fluorine at a cooling speed of 3°C/min or less from a slag discharge temperature to 500°C, mineral phases containing fluorine in this slag are made not to be the (2CaO*SiO2)2*CaF2phase, (3CaO*SiO2)3*CaF2phase and 3CaO*SiO2-CaF2phase whose hydration reactivities are large, but to be the 3CaO*2SiO2*CaF2phase and 2CaO*SiO2-CaF2phase whose hydration reactivities are small.
