Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the torque of an AC motor controllable even when one switching element of a three-phase voltage type inverter to drive the AC motor is shorted.SOLUTION: When one of switching elements 35-40 in each phase of an inverter 19 is shorted, "2-phase and 1-phase modulation control" is exerted to control the inverter 19 in such a way that, in an electric angle interval corresponding to an effective voltage vector which is usable at the time of a shorting failure (i. e, the electric angle interval in which a 2-phase modulation is possible), voltage control is exerted by a 2-phase modulation which involves turning switching elements in two other sound phases than the shorted phase on and off to control the torque of an AC motor 12, and that, in an electric angle interval other than those where a 2-phase modulation is possible (i. e., the electric angle interval in which a 1-phase modulation is possible), voltage control is exerted by a 1-phase modulation which involves turning switching elements in either one of two other sound phases than the shorted phase on and off.
