Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a carbon catalyst achieving a catalyst having sufficiently high catalytic activity and having high performance.SOLUTION: A carbon catalyst is produced through: a step of preparing a carbon precursor polymer using a polyacrylonitrile-polymethacrylic acid copolymer; a step of mixing the carbon precursor polymer with at least one kind of transition metal selected from cobalt (Co), iron (Fe) and nickel (Ni) or a compound of the transition metal(s) and nitrogen atoms as constituting elements; and a step of carbonizing the mixture of the carbon precursor compound, the transition metal(s) or the compound of the transition metal(s) and the carbon precursor polymer.
