PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing and drying machine which has an improved ability to remove foreign objects, lint and the like which are attached and deposited in a drain path and a drain port.SOLUTION: A washing and drying machine includes: an inner tub 4; water supply means 15 for supplying water into the inner tub 4; drainage means 13 for draining water in an outer tub 3; a circulation path having a heat exchanger 35 outside of the outer tub 3 and for circulating air inside the outer tub 3 via the heat exchanger 35; a heater 31 disposed in the circulation path, and for heating the air supplied to the inner tub 4 from the circulation path; a blower fan 30 for generating circulation air in the circulation path; water cooling water supply means 36 for supplying cooling water into the heat exchanger 35; and control means 11 for controlling the water supply means 15, the drainage means 13, the heater 31, the blower fan 30 and the water cooling water supply means 36, and for performing a washing step, a rinsing step, a dewatering step and a drying step. The control means 11 closes the drainage means 13 for a predetermined time in a state where the water cooling water supply means 36 is operated, and then, releases it.
