Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas diffusion layer having good adhesiveness with other members and excellent productivity while the production method thereof is simple.SOLUTION: In a gas diffusion layer, a coating layer 2 comprising carbon powder and a water repellent agent is provided on at least one surface of a porous carbon electrode base material 1. The gas diffusion layer has unprocessed portions M1, M2, M3, M4 where the coating layer is not formed, on at least both end portions or a periphery portion of the coating layer 2. The porous carbon electrode base material 1 constituting the gas diffusion layer has a thickness of 50-250 μm, and the coating layer 2 formed on at least the one surface has a thickness of 5-100 μm.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
