Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which enables the position of a lung field captured in a radiographic image to be recognized accurately, thereby reliably increasing the visibility of the lung field.SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus comprises: means for creating a pixel value profile which indicates a correlation between the position of each pixel in a pixel array traversing a contour of a subject and a lung field of the subject, and the corresponding pixel value; means for creating a moving average profile which indicates a correlation between the position of each target pixel and a moving average of the corresponding pixel value; and an intersection determination unit for searching for an intersection of both profiles at the position of which the pixel value profile passes the moving average profile in a direction from a rear end toward a front end of the pixel array (direction from the lung field toward the contour of the subject).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11
